Devotional: 19th of Elul

One day you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of HaG'vurah and coming on the clouds of heaven (Matthew 26:64).

Jacob's son Joseph had a dream. His eleven brothers, mother, and father, represented by eleven stars, the moon and the sun, all bowed before him. This dream aroused the brothers' jealousy and inspired them to sell Joseph into bondage in Egypt. Yet years later, when Joseph had become viceroy over all Egypt, and his brothers were brought before him, they did indeed bow before him. The sages say that the brothers bowed before Joseph a total of five times throughout the story. The one whom they had rejected became their ruler and judge, as well as their savior.

Centuries later, the Cohen HaGadol (High Priest) of Israel sat in judgment over an itinerant Galilean rabbi named Yeshua, who was making outrageous claims about himself. Yeshua told the Cohen HaGadol that "one day" he would see him sitting in the place of judgment at the right hand of HaGevurah (God; literally, the Power). Yeshua knew he was about to die, yet he spoke of the resurrection, a day when the Cohen HaGadol would be summoned before the throne of God to receive his eternal reward. He would then look up toward the throne of God, and would see this same Yeshua, whom he had turned over to the Gentiles for execution, sitting as ruler, judge and savior of those who had acknowledged him.

...bow before Yeshua, recognizing him as Messiah and Lord in all aspects of my life.
