Devotional: 29th of Iyar

You will be a kingdom of cohanim [priests] for me, a nation set apart (Exodus 19:6).

The entire nation of Israel, not just the tribe of Levi, was set apart, consecrated to God for his purposes. We were called to be a light to the nations. Unfortunately, our people have not entirely lived up to this holy calling. Today, the majority of our people remain in unbelief.

But God has still called us to be that light, a remnant according to the election of grace. In Yeshua, we are consecrated by God to be a light both to our people and to all of the nations. We have an obligation to live lives that are set apart unto God, so that people will see and be drawn to Messiah Yeshua. Henry Varley, a 19th century British evangelist, once said, "It remains for the world to see what the Lord can do with a man wholly consecrated to [Messiah]." As we commit ourselves to living consecrated lives, the world will wake up and take notice. Unfortunately, the world too often sees us in a state of compromise, not consecration.

God has called us to be set apart for his purposes, that he might receive the glory, and that others may be drawn to him. We have a priestly ministry to exercise. As we consecrate ourselves to God, our own people and the entire world will see and be drawn to Yeshua.

...consecrate myself unto the Lord God of Israel. I will set myself apart from all those things that deter me from being holy unto him.
