Devotional: 1st of Tammuz

The time has come, God's Kingdom is near (Mark 1:15).

With these words Yeshua began his public ministry. Yeshua also taught us to pray, "May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). The Malchut HaShem (Kingdom of God) is the realm where God's rule is established. Our people have been preserved by a hope for the Kingdom of God—a day when the rule of God would be established over all the earth. Israel and the nations will experience unity under the rule of the Messiah in the Olam HaBa (the Age to Come). The whole human family will know the joy and fulfillment that come through living according to God's ways.

Yeshua ushered in this Kingdom in part, but the fullness of these hopes will await his return. His Malchut (Kingdom) encompasses all the dimensions of our lives, including our personal devotional lives, family lives, economic lives, and even recreational lives. Every aspect of life can reflect the glory of his rule. The Kingdom, like a mustard seed (Matthew 13:31-32), will continue to grow and fill the earth. When the Messiah returns, his Kingdom will be fully established over the earth.

We pray, "May your Kingdom come, your will be done" to confess the wisdom and glory of his ways, that we might live according to his rule in everything. The glory of our Father and his Malchut are to be our foun-dational motivating passions. Even if we are engaged in the lowliest work, we can do it to the glory of his Kingdom. This gives joy and meaning to the most mundane endeavors.

...reflect God's Kingdom rule in every aspect of my life.
