Devotional: 3rd of Tammuz

You are to name him Yeshua [which means, "Adonai saves"], because he will save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).

Jesus is a fine name for the Messiah. It's an English transliteration of his Greek name—Iesous, which is actually a Greek translation of his original Hebrew name—Yeshua. Yeshua is a beautiful name. Its meaning— "the Lord saves"—is even more beautiful.

It's also beautiful because you are in it. Think about it. Why does Messiah have anything to do with salvation? Only because of you. "Yeshua" therefore actually means "Adonai [the Lord] saves you!" Your salvation is in his name. His love for you is in his name.

God has, with all his heart, become your salvation, the answer to all your needs. If you were the only one in the world who needed salvation, he would still have sacrificed his life for you to become your Yeshua. He made this sacrifice to save you personally, and personally is the only way you can respond to his salvation. He's not salvation until you can say, "My Yeshua, my Salvation."

If you haven't said that yet, say it today. His holy name already has you inside of it, and that's something truly beautiful.

...spend intimate time with the Lord. I will return to the intimacy of my Savior and friend. I'm in his name!
