'Christ in You...'

Just Think Of The Price
Date Posted: October 3, 2021

When you feel down, low, discouraged, and lonely, forgotten, or perhaps just utterly worthless and unworthy - just think about the price.

Think of the price that has been paid for you by Jesus Christ! Price determines value of that which is purchased. How valuable then you must be! Jesus, by the kind of price He paid, transferred inestimable value to you. Having paid such a high price for you, do you think that He will forget you, ignore you, or loose you, or let you go?

He said that of all that the Father gives Him, he should loose none (John 6:39). That, if you belong to Him, means no matter who you are or where you are, He will not loose you, or leave you. So, do not loose Him - in your thinking, in your actions, in your devotion and commitment. He is totally committed to you. Are you totally commit to Him? If you honestly feel that you are not, then just think of the price. The price that has already been paid for you. And why was that price paid? It was paid so that you would not die forever.

Martha had not yet realized the price Jesus was to pay for Lazarus's life. His resurrection to physical life again was her witness to believe, even though she had not yet seen the price He would pay for her brother's eternal life. It was difficult for Martha to grasp the enormity of what He had said. She could not yet think of the price because of the sorrow and disappointment with Jesus at the moment. But she would eventually.

In a conversation with one not long ago, I ask this person if they had ever considered becoming a Christian. The reply was, after a moment of thought, "I just never thought that it was for me". I replied that it is for everyone, and that God wanted this person to live forever. That in essence and reality is the proverbial bottom line of Christianity.

Sometimes it is good to compare. Sometimes it is good to compare your lot with those whose lives are an even greater challenge than yours. There is always someone suffering more. On the flip side, there are those who drift through life, as this person seemed to be doing. They have their problems, but they are absorbed with the present, with self interests, preoccupied with satisfying the self. So they struggle with that. Things of the moment seem much more urgent than the certainty of the time when all that absorbs them will be no more. The issues they deal with now will not matter. Of course, they never did compared to eternity.

If some other person had singled this person out, and in some way, for some reason, paid the kind of price for them to live as Jesus has done, I am quiet sure the response would have been different. But it seems difficult to consider the price someone else has paid. When we think of the price paid by parents for their children, they become more dear and valuable. When comrades in battle die for each other, the ones who survive never forget. Some make special commitments with their lives in some way. It is their way of considering the price - the cost that someone else paid, so that they might live.

Jesus came and fought in battle with Satan, to deliver you from eternal death that will come unless you can think of the price and respond. Think of the cost. He purchased you with a price that is unimaginable. And not only for you, but for the whole world. But unlike a comrade in arms in war, you cannot survive unless you accept the price paid by committing yourselves to honoring and serving Him while you are still living.

I ask you to consider today. Consider the cost that Jesus paid for you, compared with the cost of you giving up your way and accepting His way. His way leads to eternal life. Your way, if you do not come to Him, leads only to eternal death. Unlike the person said in my conversation, it IS for you! The price Jesus paid is for everyone. Your price is to surrender your way to His. Then, no matter what happens in your life, you can live forever!

Just think of the price. Then think of what your value must be to Him...

"Jesus said to her, Your brother shall rise again. Martha replied, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live; And whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this?"- John 11:25-26 (AMP)
