'Christ in You...'

Do you find yourself reliving and rerunning your life, reflecting on your life as far back as you can remember?

As we all grow older, this tendency increases for some. And eventually they may wonder why…why does the mind tend to begin to play reruns of events from our past? Assuming that it does (and will) happen to many, is this simply “old age”, too much time on the hands, or, perhaps as some might surmise, a nervous breakdown?

Our mind in some way that is mysterious, begin to fill and record every thought, and every experience, as the years go by. The brain, without us being aware of it, permanently records the thoughts and experiences of our lives until death.

Perhaps this is one reason we find ourselves reminiscing events, and even thoughts, music tunes, the words of those whose paths have crossed ours. This is not sin although many of the events may have involved sin when they were originally thought or experienced.

This is one reason we grow more forgetful trying to experience and cannot experience voluntary mental recall of events we have experienced in the past. We strive to remember experiences, thoughts, and attitudes that we thought or experienced many years ago.

Sometimes, the recalls are very vivid; even to the extent of physically or emotionally reliving events of the past.

As we remember these experiences of the past, our brains become more and crowded with so many thoughts and experiences. Therefore, because it is so filled with the records of the past, it can be much slower in conscious recall. There is nothing physically or medically wrong.

Everything in the brain simply becomes very compacted over time. Recall slows down. And some thoughts and events may not connect at all. They are permanently forgotten. Our brains are filled to capacity.

If you are experiencing slower mental recall, or have completely forgotten words or experiences, do not feel you are somehow inferior. You are simply experiencing the conditions that God designed for every human on earth.

To varying degrees, and at various times, it will happen to all of us. For different reasons, the time of the occurrences will vary, caused mostly by hereditary conditions each was born with.

Therefore, do not feel inferior in some way… it is all the work of God. Let us appreciate God’s love of variety. It’s OK to remember - especially the good things of the past.

If you belong to Christ, even the not-so-good you can recall, He has blotted out and forgotten for you…

He has already blotted out the bad…forever!

"And their sins and their lawless acts I will remember no more [no longer holding their sins against them].” - Hebrews 10:17 (AMP)
