'Christ in You...'

The Spirit Of Antichrist
Date Posted: September 19, 2021

Why is there embarrassment for many to say the name "Jesus"? Many cannot say the word without feeling apologetic. Others are offended when they hear it, and others will do anything possible to change the subject, or ignore it. This intrigued me for a long time. The same does not seem to be true about "God", or even "Christ", But the name "Jesus" causes some be embarrassed, others will blush, and some will become angry - usually quietly, however, most of the time.

This strange phenomenon that exists today is alluded to by the Apostle John:

"Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world. By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]" (1 John 4:1-3 AMP).

This phenomenon results in the reluctance of many who claim belief and subjection to God, but resist - even bristle - when the word "Jesus" is heard. They do not understand where they are coming from in their minds. These false spirits are sponsored by the influence of Satan. The apostle Paul makes this clear in speaking of Christians prior to their conversion: "[You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God]". We must be aware of and understand that there are many false spirits operating in the realm of Christianity. This is evidenced in Paul's warning. These spiritual influences are emissaries of the final anti-christ that will deceive the whole world in the future. But these spirits now work in those who do believe in Jesus Christ.

The defining proof or disproof of a professed belief confessing (honest) belief in, and submission to Jesus Christ. Their reluctance to confess Jesus Christ - to leave Him out of the picture - is evidence that they are not real Christians. Their non-confession to believe in Jesus Christ, while saying they believe in God, is evidence of the spirit of anti-christ influencing their minds. There are many of these false spirits in the world, and always have been. If there were "many" in the days of the Apostles, one can only imagine how many today, and will be in the future. This phenomenon will increase as we near the end of the age, resulting in a type of Christless religion.

Eventually Jesus will be progressively left out of religious teaching and reference. Instead many will believe a great lie when the final Antichrist, possessed by Satan himself is revealed. These who refuse to believe in Jesus Christ will be given by God an influence that blinds them even more. (2 Thessalonians 2:2-11). Those who have refused to recognize Jesus Christ will be given an even greater boldness to deny Him, and come be completely deceived by the spirit of Anti-christ. The ultimate strategy of Satan is to destroy all reference to and knowledge of Jesus Christ. That is the reason the anti-Christ is called "the Anti-Christ".

Many years ago Selwyn Hughes, a very effective apologist for Christianity, had a very intense discussion with a Muslim fundamentalist, each bringing out where each differed from the other's religion. Certain issues seemed to be somewhat reconcilable for quiet some time. But eventually, the issue of Jesus had to be addressed. Mr. Hughes explained that Jesus is God's Son, and therefore worthy of worship. The other man was silent for a moment and then said that the Koran says that God can never have a son. Both remain in silence for a long time. They had inadvertently reached the real impasse between other religions and Christianity - Jesus as God's Son.

The spirit of antichrist will go to any lengths to discredit, destroy, hide, and do anything else in order to cut the world off from Jesus as the Christ of God, as His only begotten Son. Even if all other purposes were to fail, this one Satan will not allow to fail! He must destroy the work of Jesus Christ as it works by the Holy Spirit. He must blind, make non-essential, expunge the sound of the name "Jesus". He is very busy doing just that, in hundreds of ways, most of the time quietly, and very subtle. Slowly - ever so slowly. Remember the frog in the pan analogy? It is one of his most effective stratagems, If the name of Jesus can be blotted out, only a void remains. There is no one to come to the Father thorough. There is no one to believe in unto salvation and eternal life. Most of all, Satan does not want there to be sons of God living forever! Eventually, the Antichrist will appear in human form. What has not been blotted out by then, he will complete. He will completely stamp out the name of Jesus as God's Son - except for the elect, those who possess another spirit. The Holy Spirit.

So, when you hear or see Jesus name resisted in any way, you can know who is really behind it, even though many may not realize it. May we all be alert to the times in which we live.

"And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world." - 1 John 4:3 (AMP)
