'Christ in You...'

The Third World
Date Posted: August 18, 2019

We have heard about “third world” countries - those supposedly not as modern, or economically on a par with larger and more prosperous nations. Supposedly, other countries or peoples are occupants of some other world, either a “first’ or a “second” world. There is coming a kind of third world that is almost unimaginable, and an eternity away from today’s worlds. How ironic that the “third world” that Jesus Christ will create will be diametrically the opposite - in every sense of the word! But the other “Third World” that is coming is even more certain than the present reality of third world countries, whatever they may be.

If you belong to Jesus Christ, you will live in and participate in, three different "worlds" - three epochs, or spans of time, one of which we are living in now. However, only two of them, including our present world, can truly be referred to as times, as we will see shortly.
Since God spoke the earth into existence, and Adam and Eve were created, on forward in time progressing down through history until our times today, may be considered the first "world". Of course within this long span of time were many events - the flood that God used to destroy "the world than then was", the calling of Abraham through whom came the creation of Israel, through which would come the "Savior of the world", the calling and formation of the church to be the "body of Christ" after His resurrection and ascension. Afterward, there arose many empires, rising and collapsing, explosions of "knowledge", degenerating into the horrible "dark ages", expansion of mankind into all the "world" that we finally have inherited today. This is the first world - the one you and I live and breath in today. Regardless of what may on the surface seem good, God knows that it is ruled invisibly and silently by Satan (1 John 5:19). If we can see it as God sees it, as it is, it is not a very good world

Last week, we briefly presented an overview of the world that will eventually replace the world that we know and experience each day of our lives. We saw that if you will surrender your life to Christ, you can live on into another world. You and I can live in two very different worlds. Even more than this, we can live in three worlds. There is another, even more wonderful world coming. However, in order to live in the next two worlds, we must come out of the one we are living now...we are in it, but we must not of it (1 John 2:15). As we saw last week, we will eventually inhabit a refurbished and restored world, to last a thousand years, ruled by Jesus Christ, sitting on the throne of David, with the resurrected saints of all ages in various capacities, ruling with Him. It will be a indescribably beautiful and peaceful world - as beautiful as anything physical and material can be.

As wonderful as this second world to come will be, since it will be a material and physical construct, it too will only be temporary. All things material have a limit set by God for their purpose and usefulness. Everything eventually outlives its usefulness (Hebrews 1:10-12). At the end of that world, when all of Gods children have been made immortal and gathered unto Himself, the physical earth will have served its purpose. The physical earth will have then served God purposes through millenniums of His dealings with human kind. After resurrections and the judgments of all, sentence decreed and rewards bestowed (2 Timothy 4:7-8), it will be time for something new. The old must finally pass away. The final “day of the Lord” will have come:

“For they deliberately suppress this fact that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and an earth was formed out of water and by means of water. Through these things the world existing at that time was destroyed when it was deluged with water. But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, by being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish (pass away) with a thunderous crash, and the material] elements of the universe will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up. Since all these things are thus in the process of being dissolved, what kind of person ought [each of] you to be [in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities, while you wait and earnestly long for (expect and hasten) the coming of the day of God by reason of which the flaming heavens will be dissolved, and the [[material] elements [of the universe] will flare and melt with fire?” - 2 Peter 3:5-12.

The times designed by God for the physical and material to facilitate the birthing of His children will have ended. The time for the end of “time” will have come...

The Apostle Peter shows that the ultimate desire and longing of a Christian is for the time when all things physical, which are subject to decay and destruction by the fire of God, will be destroyed. But with what will the things of earth be replaced? ”But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise, in which righteousness (uprightness, freedom from sin, and right standing with God) is to abide.” - 2 Peter 3:13

This indescribable and majestic event is anxiously looked forward to by our Lord Himself. This should be our highest, glorious hope and desire as well...“And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine). And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life. He who is victorious shall inherit all these things, and I will be God to him and he shall be My son.” - Revelation 21:5-7.

“He who is unrighteous (unjust, wicked), let him be unrighteous still; and he who is filthy (vile, impure), let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous (just, upright, in right standing with God), let him do right still; and he who is holy, let him be holy still. Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last (the Before all and the End of all). Blessed (happy and to be envied) are those who cleanse their garments, that they may have the authority and right to [approach] the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city. [But] without are the dogs and those who practice sorceries (magic arts) and impurity [the lewd, adulterers] and the murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and deals in falsehood (untruth, error, deception, cheating). I, Jesus, have sent My messenger (angel) to you to witness and to give you assurance of these things for the churches (assemblies). I am the Root (the Source) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and brilliant Morning Star." - Revelation 22:14-16

The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty [who is painfully conscious of his need [of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever [earnestly] desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.” - Revelation 22:11-17
