Women And The Last Days
Date Posted: May 20, 2018

During the years that the Apostle Paul preached to and guided the converts of that day, he admonished the churches under his responsibility according to the necessities that he observed in all the churches of that dispensation of the gospel. His times are not our times now…our world, and its inhabitants, and those converted in our day are completely different.

Even what is described as “human nature”, molded by a modern world, is in many ways very different than the days of the Apostle Paul. Therefore, the requirements for the churches of today require different approaches to living as Christians in a different environment.

This is clearly evident in biblical references to what God allows in different times.

God has prophesied that there would be a time when women will be used in prophesying even as men have. Today, there are many women who preach the gospel in many different environments and circumstances. Is Acts 2:17-19 beginning to be fulfilled?

Contrast these prediction with the Apostle Paul’s direction to the churches during the time of the early Apostles. Notice some of Paul’s admonition to the churches of his day:

“But if an inspired revelation is made to another who is seated, then the first one must be silent. For [in this way] you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may be instructed and everyone may be encouraged; for the spirits of prophets are subject to the prophets [the prophecy is under the speaker’s control, and he can stop speaking]; for God [who is the source of their prophesying] is not a God of confusion and disorder but of peace and order. As [is the practice] in all the churches of the saints (God’s people), the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not authorized to speak, but are to take a subordinate place, as the Law says. If there is anything they want to learn [that is, if they have questions about anything being said or taught], they are to ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to talk in church. - 1 Corinthians 14:30-35

There is some differences of opinion as the “why” of this restriction for the churches of Paul’s day.

However, in the Book of Acts, God is quoted regarding conditions allowed in a later disposition:

“And it shall be in the last days,’ says God, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see [divinely prompted] visions, and your old men shall dream [divinely prompted] dreams; even on My bond-servants, both men and women, I will in those days pour out My Spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will bring about wonders in the sky above and signs (attesting miracles) on the earth below, blood and fire and smoking vapor“. - Acts 2:17-19 (AMP)

Here God Himself predicts that there would be time to come when “both men AND WOMEN’ would be predicting event to come. This would seem to imply women would be preaching (prophesy) in addition to men.

Evidence today seems to verify the apparent meaning of this scripture. In today’s world there many women evangelizing and preaching as well as men. Apparently God is calling women as well as men into evangelistic ministry.

This would seem to indicate that we are indeed entering “the last days“. How long before God begins to manifest “wonders in the sky”, and “signs on the earth”?

Perhaps they have already begun…
