(Pillows, couch cushions, and stuffed animals take us on a trip as we learn with Noah about salvation through God’s grace.)
The Lord gave us the blueprint of His Word to architect our family on Jesus Christ.
Going through the Bible with your family…
Weekly Scripture:
Genesis 6:1-7:16
Story:
"Noah Builds an Ark"
Application:
There is only one way to be saved.
Summary:
People multiplied on the face of the earth and became increasingly wicked and continuously thought evil. God became sorry he ever created man. Yet, Noah walked with God and lived in a pleasing manner. Noah had three sons named Shem, Ham, and Japheth. God warned Noah that He planned to destroy all the wicked. God have Noah instructions how to build the ark. God brought to Noah two or seven kind of every living animal, male and female and then shut Noah and his family and all the creatures up in the ark. After seven days the flood came.
Focus:
The only way of salvation is by faith in and obedience to Christ Jesus our Lord. Noah and his family had only one way of salvation and that was faith in God and obedience to His plan.
Finding Christ:
Noah found a way of escape through grace (Genesis 6:8) and we find grace through Jesus Christ. Again, Noah and the Ark are full of types of Christ.
Live the Lesson:
Tonight you are to build an ark. Tell the children a flood is coming and you need to build an ark. You can use pillows, blankets, couch cushions, etc. Make it big…because all their stuffed animals and all of you need to fit in it. Don’t forget the frosted animal cookies and a game to keep you busy while you are shut in the ark as the flood comes.
While in the ark explain to the children that just as Noah and his family were saved from the flood, so are we saved from eternal wrath by abiding in Christ.
