David Pleads with the LORD
Date Posted: September 4, 2020

Psalm 28

To you I call, O LORD my Rock:

Do not turn a deaf ear to me.

For if you remain silent,

I will be like those who have gone

down to the pit.

David calls out to the LORD. He desires that God hear him. He fears that if God remains silent, he will be forsaken like those who have gone to the grave. At times, we who follow Jesus must call out to Him. Sometimes, it is for a circumstance we face. Other times we must call out to Him on behalf of a friend who has insurmountable issues.

Hear my cry for mercy

As I call to you for help,

As I lift up my hands,

Toward your Most Holy Place.

He pleads for mercy along with God’s help. David approaches God in a worshipful attitude. We must ask God for mercy as we await the resolution of those difficult circumstances. We also must ask for this guidance with a worshipful attitude.

Do not drag me away with the

Wicked,

With those who do evil,

Who speak cordially with their

neighbors

But harbor malice in their hearts.

He requests that God deal with transgressors alongside those who perform evil deeds or those who are insincere when dealing with others. We, as God’s children, must be certain that we are living as He wants us to. We must not harbor any evil thoughts in our hearts, especially as we converse with those around us. We have a lot to live up to if we desire to show the LORD's love to this hurting world.
