Benefits of Grace
Date Posted: July 25, 2007

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me (1 Corinthians 15:10 NJKV).

Pride is such in insidious creature. It creeps in when we least expect it, and can be very hard to recognize, at least in our own lives. Pride is often the result of thinking that the things we’ve accomplished are of our own doing, but it’s important to realize that absolutely every good thing in our lives is a direct result of God’s grace.

Do have you have accomplishments you’re proud of? Are things going well in your life right now? Have you grown in your faith? Is the fruit of the Spirit more evident in your life now than it was a year ago? Is your ministry growing? If you answered yes to any of the above, it is only because of God’s grace.

Grace is manifested in our lives as God exerts His influence on us and strengthens us, increases our faith, knowledge, and affection, and stirs us up to exercise Christian virtue. It is a gift given to us by God. In fact, Grace is part of the Christian’s benefit package and bounty that we receive when we accept Christ.

The grace God gives us has not been given to us in vain -- it not empty handed or meaningless or without purpose. We are what we are, in a good and holy sense, because of God’s grace.

Father, we thank You that Your grace is abundant, and that grace, by its very nature is not something we have to earn or deserve, but that it is something You pour out on us abundantly as part of the benefit package we received when we became Christians. Help us to become more aware of Your grace in our lives. -- Amen.

As you go about your day, look for evidences of God’s grace in your life. In addition to watching for His grace on a daily basis, think back to how His grace has been abundant in your life in previous days, weeks, months, and years as well.
