“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though you sins are like scarlet, They shall be white as snow; Through they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken (Isaiah 1:18-20).
Your journal is a great place to process the truth found in Isaiah 1:18-20. Use your journal to explore the following:
-
What does it mean to reason with the Lord? Does it surprise you that God wants to reason with you? Why or why not?
-
According to Isaiah 1:18, what will happen to your sin as a result of reasoning with the Lord? How certain is this? Do you struggle with believing that God can do this for you? Explain.
- If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land. Are you currently experiencing this? Write examples of this in your life.
- Is the “good of the land” ever found in the midst of hardship? If so, explain how that can be possible. Write about times this was true in your own life.
- What happens if you refuse and rebel? What could being “devoured by the sword” look like in today’s world? If you don’t know, use your journal to explore the possibilities.
Father, we thank you for the complete forgiveness that comes in our life because of You. We pray that you will help us to be willing and obedient. Help us to trust that Your Word is true even in the midst of difficulty. Amen.
