Do not fight against the Lord. . .for you will not succeed (2 Chronicles 13:12 NLT).
Do you ever fight against God’s will for your life? When He tells you to go a certain direction, do you at times go the opposite direction?
Remember the prophet Jonah. God told him to go to Nineveh, but he decided to go as far away from Nineveh as possible. Was he successful in running from God? We all know the answer to that question! In spite of Jonah’s insistence on doing things his own way and going where he wanted to go, he ended up in Nineveh anyway, doing what God asked him to do in the first place. And he got there using a less than pleasant mode of transportation!
Our attempts to do our own thing only cause us grief and delay God’s will for our lives. We need to surrender immediately to His will, because no matter how hard we fight, He will always win!
Lord, we do surrender to Your will. Help us to give up fighting against Your will for our lives. Help us to truly trust that Your plan for our lives is for Your glory and for our ultimate good. Amen.
Reflection: Is there anything God has asked you to do that you are resisting? Make a commitment to surrender to His will today!
