Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God” Psalm 3:1,2 (NKJV).
We all at times feel oppressed and overwhelmed. It can even seem that everyone is against us, and we might feel there is no help for us even in God. Your journal is a great place to interact with the truth found in Psalm 3.
Use your journal to explore the following:
- Write about the people who trouble you and are fighting against you (past or present).
- Write about anyone who makes you feel helpless. As you write, ask God to show you if you cause anyone else to feel this way. Not only write about it, but if necessary, make plans to ask forgiveness. Use your journal to plan your path to reconciliation with these people.
But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head Psalm 3:3 (NKJV).
- Write about times when God has been a shield to you. If you are currently in the midst of attack of any form, use your journal to cry out to God, asking Him to be your shield, and the One who lifts up your head. Then write out prayers of thanksgiving and worship for His goodness in this area and His ability to protect you.
I cried out to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around Psalm 3:4-6 (NKJV).
- Write about a time you cried out to God and could sense His listening ear. Use your journal to cry out to Him now for any difficult situation you are facing.
- Do you have trouble sleeping due to worries? Use your journal to cast your cares upon the Lord.
- Are you a fearful person? Use your journal to write about God’s ability to protect you from all harm.
- Write a psalm of praise to the Lord for His ability to overcome all your enemies.
