But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith (Jude 20a NKJV).
Do you remember the commercial about Wonder Bread? It helps build bodies 12 ways!
Faith is the Wonder Bread of the Christian diet. The writer of Hebrews wrote, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is the foundation of our walk with Jesus Christ.
Both Paul and the writer of Hebrews quote Habakkuk 2:4, “the just shall live by faith” (See Rom.1:17; Gal.3:11; Heb.10:38). We also read in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is a theme that is woven throughout both the Old and New Testaments.
Ours is a “holy” faith, which means that our faith is separate, distinct, and utterly different. Our holy faith makes us a target of criticism. Like Paul, we proclaim Christ crucified for the remission of sins. Jesus is the cornerstone, and the apostles doctrine is our foundation. We build ourselves up in the Word of God.
Our faith comes from God and is directed toward God. As it states in Romans 10:17, "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Faith is lived out by hearing, responding, and then living the Word of God in active obedience. You can’t hear and respond to the Word of God, if you don’t know the Word of God. Your faith is built as you consistently take in His Word.
Are you spending time in the Bible on a daily basis?
