Voice of Inspiration

Easter-The Great Interruption
Date Posted: December 11, 2022

There is something terribly wrong", ringed the voice in my head as I laid in the shredded lawn. I was semi-conscious and quite unsure of the cause of the accident I was in. It was sudden, quick and caught me off guard. It was the turn. It was sharper than expected and my tires couldn't keep me on the road at the speed I was going. It was a simple misjudgment on my part that flung me from my car and took me to the edge of death.

Laying there in darkness, alone and shocked, I wondered if this was the end. I knew where I was going but the thought of death and living forever was at the forefront of my thoughts. After all, life ever after is what followers of Christ are promised. Yet I was still uneasy at the thought of death. It may have been only minute's but it seemed hours had past as the pain of it all kept me awake. But there was one concession. I was not alone. A still small voice comforted me in my pain and assured me I would live forever. Though it was comforting, it was sort of a mystery at that moment if I would survive the accident. The voice spoke about death in a way it re-framed my thinking on the matter.

"Death is not an end as you see and feel it", It said. My thoughts questioned the notion and could not see it any other way. The voice continued, "It is a simple interruption and method to take away the heaviness of the flesh and to be free from the burdens of this world. Think of it as the way of the Master Surgeon removing the tumor that has kept you from absolute wholeness."

I closed my eyes in peace.

Look at Matthew 27:53, "and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared too many."

The word "resurrection" is defined: a resurgence (from death). And the word "resurgence" is defined: A continuing after interruption.

Death is just an interruption of life to take us into the fullness of the life Adam was first created to live.

Jesus gave us an example of this to help us re-frame our thinking about death.

He suffered greatly and died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. This is indescribably amazing but it doesn't end at the cross. He did some work in hell to secure our future. He took back the keys of life and death. Because of this we are assured, as followers of Christ, we will never be separated from Him again. And three days later He rose again and showed His victorious Self to His followers.

Jesus died visually but not spiritually. All of mankind will experience this but the difference will be in the interruption stage. Will we be forever living an uninterrupted life with God or will we be forever separated from Him.

Every day is a new beginning. Jesus said we would have trouble in this world but fear not for He has overcome the world.

But today, Easter, I would like to remember the bigger picture. I want to celebrate, "The Great Interruption".

1 Corinthians 15:54-55 The Message

54Then the saying will come true: Death swallowed by triumphant Life!

55Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who's afraid of you now?

Praise to the King!

Happy Easter!
