There can be times when you are asked to speak and you know not what to say!

Isaiah, a mighty prophet of God, filled with the Spirit of God, experienced such days. On one occasion when God told him to cry out, he asked, “What shall I cry?”

Well, he was honest. As a result, words just flooded into him and flowed from him.

Tell the people that all men are like grass. Their fame and glory is comparatively temporary. They are like the flowers in a Judean field on a hot summer’s day. They wither, fade away and quickly disappear.

People come and go, and…  ( Click for more )

Serious problems, which can appear insurmountable at first sight, occasionally confront us.

When we are in a hole all we can do at times is dig deeper and make things worse.

Isaiah saw the mountainous scenario facing the people of God as they were about to be brought back from modern day Iraq to Jerusalem, and to their own land.

It was Almighty God who told Isaiah to prepare the way for the return of the nation of Israel.

He was to be like a prophetic bulldozer, by flattening the bumps, and filling in the potholes.

The difficult dangerous desert tracks were to…  ( Click for more )

What are you missing in life?

When three thousand came to believe in Jesus Christ, the leadership was confronted with an enormous challenge.

If the Church was to be built on solid foundations, it was essential to establish correct priorities immediately.

We need to know not only how to come into the Church, but what to do once we are in. Leaders spell this out.

These new disciples in Jesus devoted themselves, and were committed to, the apostles' teaching. Leaders edify and build up believers.

Basic education in the fundamentals of the faith should prevent a man…  ( Click for more )

When Peter explained what happened when Jesus Christ poured out the Holy Spirit upon 120 disciples in the Temple in Jerusalem, on that day called Pentecost, those who listened attentively asked, "What shall we do?"

People always want to do something. It is vitally important that they are told what God requires. Peter gave a simple comprehensive answer.

"Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

When men and women came to believe in Jesus…  ( Click for more )

Tis the season of Pentecost when we remember how Jesus Christ birthed and launched the Church. What actually happened?

Seven weeks after Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, 120 disciples of Jesus are in the Temple in Jerusalem around nine o'clock in the morning, with thousands present.

The disciples are expecting something to happen, but they do not know what, and they do not know when.

They know Jesus is alive. They are faithful, obedient, prayerful, united and studying the Scriptures. They have so much, but not enough.

Suddenly there is a sound from heaven, like…  ( Click for more )

On a famous grave there is a sign which simply states, “Gone Home”.

That accurately describes the reality surrounding the Ascension of Jesus Christ.

His task on earth was done. It was finished. On the cross, the work for which He came into this world was completely completed.

He sacrificed His perfect life and shed His blood to wash away man’s sin.

Sin is the word so seldom mentioned these days and yet it is the root of every major problem facing society, and there is no other faith which deals with sin so radically, thoroughly and effectively. …  ( Click for more )

They could not wait til morning.

These two men recognised the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ when He took bread and blessed it at table in their home.

A decision was made immediately to return to Jerusalem and inform the others.

This news was too good to keep until the night was over.

When a man really sees who Jesus is, he is just bursting to tell someone.

Their hearts were touched. Their eyes were opened, and they rushed back to be in the fellowship with all the others.

In the middle of sharing what they had experienced Jesus appears in that room. …  ( Click for more )

It is mid-afternoon on resurrection day. Two men are walking the seven miles from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They had seen Jesus Christ crucified, and now they think it is all over.

Do you ever think that?

Their hearts are exceedingly sad. These are two disappointed men.

A third Man joins them. They have no idea who it is.

It is possible to have Jesus this close and not know it. They knew Jesus was dead and dead men don't rise.

Jesus asks them a question, "What are you discussing?"

“Are you the only one who does not know what’s…  ( Click for more )

Nothing could put Him off.

There came that point in the life of Jesus Christ when He set His face to go to Jerusalem.

The Son of God comes riding into Jerusalem hearing “Hosanna” which means “Save us now”. Within the week, Jesus would be betrayed, arrested, falsely accused, illegally tried, crucified, dead and buried.

It is a day of emotion, excitement, joy, sadness, rejoicing and weeping, with malice, envy and hatred.

Some two million people would be visiting Jerusalem, to celebrate the Feast of the Passover, remembering that night in…  ( Click for more )

No matter how hard you try, you cannot turn the clock back, but sometimes even disciples of Jesus Christ want to turn the clock back.

Seven disciples of Jesus wanted to turn the clock back some three years, but it was all a bit of a disaster. It normally is.

We can think things were better yesterday. Reference is made to the good old days, but they were not always that good.

The Bible warns us about thinking that days gone by were better.

Can it be possible to have met the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ and yet face impending disaster? Yes.

Many over…  ( Click for more )

It is much more than a convenient motto, but a phrase he used frequently, and pregnant with significant spiritual meaning.

On some 25 occasions Isaiah referred to Almighty God as the Holy One of Israel.

The national situation was similar to what we are presently witnessing, in as much as the people to whom Isaiah prophesied, preached and spoke, were not very interested in what God had to say to them through His chosen anointed man.

The population in Jerusalem became so familiar with Isaiah’s vocabulary that when they resisted his powerful preaching, they told him…  ( Click for more )
