There are certain days in our lives which we remember very clearly, and for the disciple of Jesus Christ, one of these preciously remembered occasions will be when he was born again.

The apostles write about this. No wonder. It is something you never ever forget.

Peter reminds first century believers of how they had been chosen and set apart, and cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

Can there be anything greater than knowing that your sins are forgiven, and the past erased and removed, and your slate wiped clean?

This is the Good News of Jesus Christ, and it is glorious.

God gives us a living hope, or a living assurance, and this is a wonderful weapon against uncertainty, no matter what form uncertainty might take.

There is an inheritance waiting for faithful disciples of Jesus, and they receive that inheritance when their work is completed down here, and they die.

Normally, we receive an inheritance when someone else dies, but it is very different in the Kingdom of God, and this inheritance cannot be corrupted, nor can it perish.

If your faith is strong it is only because it has been tested. If your faith is becoming stronger, that is because it is being tested.

The New Testament knows nothing about untested faith.

There may come a time when faith wobbles or totters and when you say, “How can I go on believing and obeying?” That is when God places us in His refining fire to purify our faith, until the dross is skimmed off. Not a very pleasant process at times.

Through all the trials and troubles and testing, God is hanging onto you, even when you are unaware of His hand.

Who else could love you like that?
