Devotional: 16th of Adar

The leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together (Isaiah 11:6 NIV).

In the Age to Come, the lion will lie down with the calf. Until then, if a lion and a calf lie down together, you can be sure the calf is not going to get a good night's sleep. Likewise, if a lion comes over to your house, the best thing for you to do is let him have his way. It's never a wise policy to be unnecessarily rude to a lion. You're not going to domesticate him. He's not going to fit into your lifestyle or daily routine. He's a lion! Let him have his way.

The Scriptures call God Ari (Hosea 11:10), the Hebrew word for "lion." One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to think that God should adjust to our lives—to fit our schedules, our doctrines, our ways. God is a lion and we must relate to him as such. We should never try to "domesticate" him. We must not expect God to conform to our ways. We must agree to be transformed by what God wants and to allow our lives to be changed by his surprising, mighty, and unbridled reality.

Do you want abundant life? Come to the living God, the Mighty and Awesome One. He is the lion. Let him have his way, and you'll be forever changed.

...let the Lord have his way in my life.
