Let the children come to me and stop hindering them...the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these (Luke 18:16).

Yeshua welcomed children and recommended child-like faith to his adult followers. Adults tend to mess things up through pride and pretentiousness. Children learn those behaviors from adults. They tend to come without airs, without pretensions. That kind of openness and honesty is what is needed for all who come to God.

I remember having a Jewish couple in our home for dinner. They were not yet believers, and as we sat around the table, there was an uncomfortable pause at the point when we would normally pray. The awkward silence was broken by my two-year-old, Isaac, who extended his hands and said, "Pray to Yeshua, Daddy?" Everyone smiled. I explained our custom of praying which we then did. The ice was broken and we had a meaningful opportunity to witness over the meal. We can learn a lot about the Lord from children.

We would do well to cultivate an appreciation and love for children, like that of Yeshua, and seek opportunities to minister to them. Most of all, we should look to cultivate a child-like faith in our own hearts, for such is the way of the Kingdom of God.
