Devotional: 10th of Iyar

Think about the fields of wild irises, and how they grow ...won't he much more clothe you? (Matthew 6:28-30)

In this passage of the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant Scriptures), Yeshua informs us that we should have faith to believe that God will provide for all of our needs. Even the need for clothing, he tells us, is not outside the realm of God's concern for us.

A number of years ago I was in need of new clothes. My wife was continually sewing up holes in my shirts and slacks, but to no avail; new ones kept appearing. It was downright embarrassing. Then one day, a friend of ours told us that she had a closet full of men's clothes that I might be interested in. A millionaire friend of hers had given them to her to distribute to the needy, and from her perspective, I fit that category. As it turned out, all of the clothes were of the finest quality, custom tailored, and fit me perfectly. Not only that, but the millionaire had his initials sewn onto every shirt pocket. They read "G.O.D."

God wants us to remember that he will provide for all of our needs. Do you have a need? Don't worry about it. Instead, put it in the hands of our heavenly Father who clothes even the wild irises of the fields.

...put aside all worries and trust in the Lord to provide for all of my needs.
