Evil men have drawn the sword And have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay those who are of upright conduct. Psalm 37:14 Wicked men hide their strength, by feigned humility and crafty courteous demeanor, and yet they will always have in readiness an armed band of satellites, or claws and teeth, as soon as an opportunity of doing mischief is presented to them. John Calvin, 1509-64, French reformer, theologian

A little to the righteous is better than the abundance of many wicked. Psalm 37:16 May we never let the things we can’t have, or don’t have, or shouldn’t have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have. Richard L. Evans

The power of the wicked will be broken But the Lord sustains the righteous. Psalm 37:17
Sustain: support, hold, bear up from below, bear the weight of, to keep from giving way, to keep up or keep going, brace, and preserve.

The Lord knows the days of the blameless, And their inheritance will be forever. Psalm 37:18 The Lord rewards faithfulness above fruitfulness, which puts us all on the same footing, whether famous for our effectiveness or unknown in our faithfulness. John Piper

The blameless shall not be ashamed in an evil time. Psalm 37:19a Part of saving faith is the assurance that you will have faith tomorrow. Trusting Christ today includes trusting Him to give you tomorrow's trust when tomorrow comes. John Piper, b. 1947
