.when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David. 1 Kings 11:4

Hearts that drift along currents forged by egocentric love and gratification disregard the compass of the mind, the rudder of reason and most of all the voice of Him who lovingly stands at the helm ready to affix our bearings and steer our course.

(Old) Solomon did evil (idolatry) in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David. 1 Kings 11:6

David’s sins were (repented) sins of the flesh; Solomon’s sins were sins of the heart. Brenda Folz, Christian teacher

.because Solomon’s heart had turned from the Lord. (his son would have civil war and lose 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel) 1 Kings 11:9-32

Ungodliness snowballs down a slippery slope and plows into future generations.

(Solomon died and the people rebelled) (his son) King Rehoboam consulted the elders who (advised) serve the people. But he rejected the elders’ advice, and consulted young (friends who advised harsh words). 1 Kings 12:6-8

Acceptance or rejection of advice based on logic or attraction gambles on natural prejudices and desires whereas God filters advice with wisdom.

.when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people (departed), There was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah (with Benjamin). 1 Kings 12:16-20 (Eventually the 10 (Northern) tribes were defeated by Assyria and assimilated. The Southern kingdom of Judah (Jerusalem) was defeated by Babylon and taken into captivity and returned to Jerusalem to rebuild. It is from the tribe of Judah that Jesus’ humanity descended. )

All the plots of hell and commotions on earth have not so much as shaken God's hand to spoil one letter or line he has been drawing. William Gurnall

I will end with history here and go on to the Psalms next. If I live long enough, God willing, I’ll return to history and prophesy in the future.
