For the needy shall not always be forgotten; Psalm 9:18a In your personal straits, when patience is exhausted; when the last handful is taken from the barrel; when complicated trials meet and hem you in; when the iron gate and the keepers before the door appear to render escape impossible— then look up, God is marching with reinforcements to your aid. F B Meyer, 1847-1929, English Baptist pastor and evangelist involved in inner city ministry

The hope of the afflicted shall not perish forever. Psalm 9:18b It’s Friday - But Sunday’s a coming. Dr. Tony Campolo, Christian preacher, 1935-

Arise, O Lord, Do not let man prevail… Psalm 9:19a
Outnumbered, outflanked, and out equipped, do we forget our great and just Ally?

O Jehovah (the existing One)! let the nations be judged before Your face. let the nations fear and know they are but men. Psalm 9:19b,20b

Humanism’s elevation of man and simultaneous rejection of God defeats its own ambition; by glorifying man it devalues and degrades mankind and initiates unforeseen consequences on man.

Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? Psalm 10:1

While it is always easy to accept an improvement in a situation after having prayed for the Lord's will to be done, it can be difficult to accept that our prayers have been answered when our present situations continue or even get worse, difficult to accept that what is happening in the present is the Lord's will and answer to our requests. Too often we assume that our prayers will be answered according to our own expectations and this biblically incorrect assumption can set us up for deception. ‘Greek Thoughts’ Copyright 2007 © Bill Klein. www.studylight.org/col/gt
