Hiram king of Tyre (50 miles south of Buirut, Lebanon) sent his servants to Solomon, . , for Hiram had always loved David. 1 Kings 5:1

We can continue to show love to those who have left us by giving respectable regard to that which they loved.

(Solomon to Hiram) You know how my father David could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which were fought against him on every side, until the Lord put his foes under the soles of his feet. 1 Kings 5:3

Pushing back the curtain of evil and entrenched familiar sin, and then overcoming, may be the greatest and most effectual sacrifice we can give future generations.

(Solomon states) But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor misfortune (because father David had overcome). 1 Kings 5:4

So I (Solomon) intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord said to my father David, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, shall build the house for my name’. 1 Kings 5:5

So the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him; and there was peace between Hiram (Gentile) and Solomon, and (together) they prepared timber and stones to build the temple. 1 Kings 5:12,18
Wisdom values the contributions of those who are different than us because it effects synergy and facilitates greater results.
