Then the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying, ‘Concerning this temple which you are building’… 1 Kings 6:11,12a

Works can take on a life in themselves, corralling and capturing our focus, leading us to lose sight of the author and sustainer of those works. Me

About this Temple you are building--what's important is that you live the way I've set out for you and do what I tell you, following my instructions carefully and obediently. Then I'll personally take up my residence… 1 Kings 6:12,13a

If church attendance is not transforming your life, perhaps you are not meeting with God there.

(Solomon in dedicating the temple said) ‘.it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of God. But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.’ 1 Kings 8:17

Great care and much prayer must attend our judgment on the actions and inactions of others. Their sincere intentions may have been overridden by impositions in which we are unaware.
