Girl Meets God

"The Christian should be an Alleluia from head to foot."
Augustine of Hippo

I've got a twin sister named Michelle. I have four boys. She has four girls. It used to be a great story to tell— until she just HAD to add number 5, a precious, little
Daddy-looking baby boy named William. And no, I'm not trying for a girl.

Little Will is about as cute as they come. He's got a round head with chubby cheeks and the longest eyelashes you've ever seen. Will is 3 now, and the miracle of intelligible speech has just overtaken him.

Will's youngest sister is six and has been in school for 2 years. So during the school year, he gets to spend lots and lots of time alone with his momma. They live 20 minutes out of town, so he and his momma spend lots and lots of time alone in the van.

This past week, on a very average day, Michelle and Will once again found themselves in the van driving into town. Sweet William started kicking his feet and singing a song. It was a song of his own making:

Thank you, Jesus.
Jesus, thank you
Jesus, thank you
Thank you, Jesus.

There'd been no special treat, no candy, no french fries, no new toy from which the song had commenced. He was just thankful to Jesus for this regular, nothing-special day with his mother.

The most potent reminders usually come from children, don't they? In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Paul writes "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Give thanks on the good days, the bad days, and the other 323 days. Maybe your song will be as good as Will's.
