Heart to Heart

Are You in the Waiting Room?
Date Posted: April 9, 2008

I remember praying so diligently for a baby 26 years ago. But day after day, month after month, even year after year, my arms remained empty. I thought why is God saying “no” to my aching heart. But now, having just celebrated my daughter’s 23birthday, I realize God was not saying “no”. Instead, He was saying “wait”. “Wait on Me”. “Wait on my timing”. “Wait on My perfect will for you”. How much easier my journey would have been if I knew then, what I know now. But I did not know. Now, 26 years later, I’ve come to understand, that is where faith kicks in. Faith is trusting God with our lives even when we think we know better. Faith is not about snapping our fingers at God and expecting Him to respond to our every desire. No, faith is much deeper. It is about trusting Him with our pain, our joys, and our yearnings, and allowing Him to work in our lives as He see fit. And you know what? God knows what’s best for us more than we know. As I looked at my daughter on her 23birthday, I thought, “Oh, I am so glad she’s 23, and not 25 or 26”. If she was older the chance of her already being married is very likely. At 25 or 26 she could even be a mother. That would make me a grandma! EEKS!! Oh, I am so glad God answers our prayers in His timing and not ours. I’M TO YOUNG TO BE A GRANDMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years,

and a thousand years are like a day.

2 Peter 3:8
