Eternity
Date Posted: August 18, 2019

We just cannot grasp the concept of eternity... or infinity for that matter. Our finite minds have no concept of it because we have a beginning and we know our physical bodies will have an end. After all, we all know someone who has died.

I cannot fathom the sheer giant-ness of God.

Psalm 95:4 The deep places of the earth are in His hand; the summits of the mountains also are His.

I cannot fathom the never beginning of God.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth;

I cannot fathom the never ending of God.

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.

And yet, I have this understanding of the things that are eternal in my soul.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has set eternity in their heart, without which man cannot find out the work that God makes from the beginning even to the end.

So when we grieve so deeply when someone close dies, we grieve because our sense of eternity has been disrupted. It just doesn't feel right to be parted from our loved one. What is written in our heart, what is set in our heart is eternity. God is working everyday to make our internal part prepared for our eternal purpose. How grand that He has such patience to teach us. I don't know about you, but I think I would rather be prepared for eternity, and if that means going through all these trials and tribulations, I will rejoice and be glad in it, just as Jesus looked past the shame of the cross to the joy beyond. It was worth it to Him. How could it be any different for us?
