Arrival In The Single Mom World
Date Posted: June 28, 2009
Once Upon A Time there was a young woman who was 32 years old who one day became a single mom. She arrived in this single mom world, unprepared and lost, but with a small flame of hope in her heart. She had left behind abuse, an alcoholic husband, and was walking daily in pain. Yet, her one ray of hope that sprang forth daily was as a mom it was her job to protect her children. In the mess of the situation her decision was to leave and begin a new life. Her children are now adults and her new life continues today.

There were many bumps and bends in the road for the young woman along the way. Many days she did not know what to do, or where to turn for help. It was a new world, with no path to follow and no past successes to look to for guidance in this unknown land.

One day she was invited to a new church in her small town. It was in this new church that on a quiet Sunday morning the day arrived and her life changed forever. On a particular Sunday morning something tugged at her heart that she did not understand. It was a quiet something going on in her heart as the people sang, and prayed together. She returned home and the next week returned again. It was on this day, that the forever change took place. It was on this day in this quiet little town, in a rural area that the single mom received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Forever more she was changed. He became the potter and she became the clay. Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8 NIV The above story is the short version of the "Once Upon a Time" Story of my life. Jesus continues to transform my life in the midst of hardship and suffering, but there is also joy as I look forward to what lays ahead. My prayer for those reading this is that you too, will allow the Lord our God to mold you and shape you into becoming all he has called you to be. May you allow his Spirit to anoint you, lead you, and comfort you as you continue to praise him. Isaiah 61:1-3The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoner's, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengence of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteosness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
