I Don't Want To Go To Church
Date Posted: September 22, 2013

A few years ago I sat in a church on a Sunday morning with the words invading my thoughts, "I don't want to be here. There must be more!" It was difficult for me to understand why I felt this way. For years from the time I received Jesus Christ and began to live out my life as a Christ follower, I was joyous when Sunday morning came. In conversations, people I met in the business world, acknowledged they were Christians, but they did not want to go to Church. This was something I could not understand at the time, but as I sit here today years later I too have said, "I don't want to go to church!" For me there was more to this feeling and the more was, "There must be more!" There must be more than walking in the door every Sunday and sitting in rows. There must be more than sitting in a class sitting at tables, praying for one another and studying a passage in the bible week after week. There must be more than leaders telling us what they set up for us to take part in and why we should be a part of it. Finally, because of this feeling I went on a search and in this search I prayed and asked God to show me what is the answer to my predicament. From this point on God stepped in and began to give me a makeover. The makeover is permanent and a life lasting change. My life; a journey of tears, a journey of new friendships, a journey of opposition and a journey that I am now thankful that I experienced. My life, a journey in a small mid western town that changed me from the inside out forever.

2 Corinthians 3:18

The Message (MSG)

16-18 Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.
