Is It Time To Burn Bridges?
Date Posted: May 16, 2010

There is an old saying that was spoken in business circles, that is no longer a common saying. The words don’t burn your bridges, was used to remind a person not to destroy a business relationship. In destroying a business relationship we may not be aware that in the future, this relationship may be a strategic connection for future business growth. Lately the words, “Burn your bridges is on my mind.” These words speak to me that there are some things in life, that God may be urging us to leave behind. It is the same as burning a bridge, but the goal is different. The bridge is not to be rebuilt, but to be left burnt to the ground, leaving no path to walk back across to the other side. It’s a new way to live, leaving behind the bridge that is burnt to the ground, to continue to walk forward into the new thing God is doing in our life and ministry.

Thoughts to ponder-

As you read this do any bridges come to your mind? Are there bridges that are burnt to the ground and you continue to try to rebuild them? Is God trying to get your eyes to focus on the life he has for you today and in the future? Maybe it’s time to ask God in prayer, to allow you to walk away from the “burnt bridges” of life and step into the new! As you step forward, it also may require you to forgive. If so, do it quickly my friends and then you will continue on in freedom!

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. (Isaiah 43:18-21, NIV)
