Relationships of The Heart w/ Nancy

Today as I began my Monday the topic of leadership style was running through my thoughts. I began to examine my leadership style and realized my style is not, "you must submit to me and honor me I am the leader!" Instead my style is, when there is a problem, "Hey lets sit down and have a chat and work through this issue." My hearts desire as a leader is for people to submit from the heart, not because I am pointing a finger and saying, "You must submit to me because I AM the leader and THEN God will honor and bless you!" As leaders we are to equip and train God's people for works of service. As leaders we are to communicate with adults as adults and not as young children. There are leaders who say, "Well if they acted like an adult I would treat them like an adult!" I believe that if we talk to adults as adults and expect a higher standard then we will begin to see this in those we lead and they will begin to grow in Christian maturity.
Submitting to leaders is a correct biblical teaching and as a leader, I really never want someone to submit to me, because of my position. Stickin thinking says; "If you cannot submit to a leader, submit to the position." God looks at the heart of all people, including the heart of leaders. We are not exempt from living a life of pride and it can easily grow in our heart, when we live from a well of self importance as a leader. Pride has no place in the life of a leader, for it will easily damage those we lead. In fact it is in the list of things that God hates.
My prayer; Lord, as leaders please helps us to live lives free from pride and to hate what you hate and love those who you call us to lead. Help us to lead our people with the heart of Jesus and lead with a heart to lift them up to become all you call them to be.
