Relationships of The Heart w/ Nancy

Rejection and Discouragement
Date Posted: April 15, 2012

Today during a short time of quiet I began to think about the many organizations in our world that require specific skills, degrees, backgrounds, physical abilities, physical health, skin color or a specified language. In interviewing for a job many, may at sometime in their life be rejected as a viable candidate for a job and may hear the following words; “I’m sorry you do not have the correct skills for this job. I’m sorry we are looking for someone that is bi-lingual. I’m sorry your health will hinder your ability to carry out the task we require for this position. I’m sorry we need someone with no degree or I’m sorry you need to go back to school for this job.” In today’s world of employers that look for specific skill sets this can become down right discouraging and depressing. Yet, there is one place that all are welcome and all can become part of the group. No one is left out, no one is rejected, and no one is told that they do not have the required skill set. This place is the place of receiving Jesus Christ. Once we make this decision to receive Jesus Christ we instantly become part of the worldwide body of Christ. (Romans 10:9-13)

Once we are are part of the body we will find that people are short. They are tall. They have degrees. They have no degrees. They are introverts and they are extroverts. They have physical disabilities. They are healthy. They may speak one language, two or three. They may be light skinned, dark skinned or have olive skin. They may have short hair, long hair, curly hair, straight hair, dark hair or light. They/we are the body of Christ.

Once we become part of the body of Christ we can then begin building relationships with others within the body. With our various backgrounds relationships may be bumpy at times, but God teaches us in his word, that as individuals we have a responsibility. As Christians we are called to a higher standard than the standard of the world. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do in word in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:15-16)

This weeks relational questions- Have you abandoned the body of Christ because they are not living up to your expectations? Are you looking for the perfect church/body of Christ that will meet all your needs? If your answer is yes to either of these questions I ask that you take time to search the word and pray this week. The Holy Spirit will be faithful and will speak truth into your heart if you desire to listen. (Jeremiah 33:3) After reading, praying and listening place the guidance and answers of the Holy Spirit into action. The definition of church is it's people. If you desire to see a change, become the person God has called you to be. Become an example and others will eventually follow.
