Relationships of The Heart w/ Nancy

Servant Leadership
Date Posted: June 6, 2010

When I was in school I took the required course for Christian Leadership. I spent my time, writing papers on the subject, researching, reading, and coming to terms with, "where I as a leader" understood God's direction on the subject.

The course was not titled, "Servant Leadership," but this became my thesis of sorts as I wrote my papers. On a personal level if anyone spends time with me, even for a short time, you will find that I am not one that agrees with what I call, a high authoritative style of leadership. I became a christian at the age of 32 in 1992, and through the years I have seen more destruction caused by this type of leadership than I care to admit. Yes, there are many who try to justify this style of leadership, but by using the Old Testament. When this style of leadership is used to lead, the New Testament is left out. When the New Testament is left out, there is a word that is missing and the word is "grace." God's word is made up of two books, not only one. What I call High Authoritative leadership is dangerous to the people of God.

In weeks to come I will be sharing a few thoughts on Servant Leadership. I hope you will join us. It is not an easy road to travel. Even within Servant Leadership, there still exists an authority(s) that we are all to submit to. It's a delicate balance, but one that is required of us, as people of God and as Leaders of the most high.

As Always, Serving with you,
Nancy J.
