Standing Firm Moving Forward
Date Posted: August 16, 2009

Standing Firm- To remain erect, maintain one’s position, to endure. With God’s help we can continue to walk the path that God places us on. Ephesians 6;13-14 reminds us to use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be STANDING FIRM, STAND your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
Standing firm in the faith, means even in the midst of tough times, to be obedient to the teaching of Jesus Christ. We are standing tall and standing firm, when we are standing for him. There are times that God calls many around the globe to stand up for Jesus Christ and not deny him in the midst of the possibility of losing their life.
The Apostle Paul in the New Testament is someone who stood firm all the way to the end of his life. In the midst of stoning, Stephen stood firm on his belief, to the point of crying out, “Father forgive them, “as he approached death. The Apostle Peter ran from acknowledging Jesus during Jesus’ approaching death on the cross. He eventually returned and became a man who preached a powerful message of the saving power of Jesus Christ. The man, who denied Jesus, now stood firm.
All three of these men stood firm. The gospel began to spread, further and further throughout the world. Today, this same gospel is being preached around the world, by men and women, near and far.

Prayer- Dear Lord Jesus, please help us to stand firm on the rock Jesus Christ. Give us the desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have yet to know you. May we be like Paul, who never gave up, in the midst of persecution. May we forgive as Stephen did, when we are attacked. May we preach the word powerfully as Peter, whether God places us with one person, a small group, or a large group. We thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for each one of us. Help us to submit and surrunder our lives totally to you. Amen.

Jesus submits his will to the Father (Luke 22:39-46 NIV)

39-Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40-On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." 41-He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42-Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." 43- An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44- And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

45-When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46-"Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."

As Always, Serving with you,
