The Baby Has Arrived!
Date Posted: July 20, 2008

Waiting for the birth of a baby can seem as if the nine months will take forever. This is also a time of preparation as the family begins to adjust for the future arrival of the newborn baby. No matter how much a family plans in advance and how much love they have for the little one, once the baby arrives home adjustments begin to take place. Sleep schedules may change, meal times may be interupted, the first child who has always been easy going, may become a challenge as they find it is now necessary to share Mom and Dad. Yet, eventually as days go by, hopefully the family will settle into what I call a "new normal" and life continues on. The family has survived the transition of the new bundle of joy that is now part of the family.

In the past few years various leaders have shared with me that when a vision unfolds from the beginning to end it is the same as the birth of a baby. When someone would share this I would kind of "shake my head on the inside" and wonder what does that mean? In looking back I can now say I fully understand the meaning! The birth of a vision that God gave me a few years ago is now fully birthed and spilling all over my desk! I am learning a new way to become flexible. I can now compare my life to the birth of a new baby! I love it, but now it is necessary for me to find "a new normal" and adjust my life around the vision that has been birthed. I've learned the meaning of three words through the preparation of the vision and it's birth. The words are decision, discipline and determination. Discipline of my time seems to be the word for this week.

Questions for our readers this week: Has God given you a vision that you have placed on the shelf at the idea stage and today it's time to dust it off? Is there something that God has called you to do, but instead of adjusting and preparing for the birth of the vision you have set it on the shelf in the midst of the planning stage? Is the vision now birthed, but you have decided to quit because it seems to difficult? If so take the vision to God. Begin to pray for direction and then take active steps as the Lord unfolds his plan before you. Vision is active and requires a life of faith. Be willing to make changes as the Lord prompts along the way. Most of all be willing to "stand" when opposition arrives on life's doorstep.

Then in the midst of it all, whether you are in the transition stage, in the ups and downs, or in the birth process begin to thank and praise God for his willingness to trust you with whatever task that he places before you.

The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty, and armed with strength. The world is firmly established, it cannot be shaken. Your throne, O Lord, has been established from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. The mighty oceans have roared, O Lord. The mighty oceans roar like thunder, the mighty oceans roar as they pound the shore. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore--the Lord above is mightier than these! Your royal decrees cannot be changed. The nature of your reign, O Lord, is holiness forever. Psalm 93 (NLT)
