The Choice of The Mud Puddle
Date Posted: July 11, 2010

Recently an issue arose in my life that was very difficult to deal with. Words were written that described me specifically according to a one sided view. I was not allowed input or was I contacted on the subject that was sent to me. I only received a typed letter. The toughest part of this was that I had no idea who the people were that made comments about me. According to God's word, if I am offended I am to go to the person, but how can a person go to those who have no name. In all honesty before long I was in despair.

In this despair, I realized that God desired me to forgive and to let it go. I began to pray because I knew that I was unable to do this on my own. As I was praying I saw myself sitting in a mud puddle. I was covered with mud, from head to toe. No part of my body was without mud dripping from it. It was as if the Holy Spirit was showing me that I could stay sitting in the mud puddle where others had tossed me and allow the enemy to destroy what God had given me to lead, or get up, take a shower and continue forward.

I made my decision to get up and move on instead of allowing the enemy to permeate my heart with unforgiveness, bitterness, feelings of rejection or for the hurt to attach a deep root of pain. The choice of stepping out of the mud puddle is not always easy, but it is worth it. If we desire to live the victorious life, it is necessary to throw up the white flag and shout, "Lord, I surrender." I submit my life to you.

Questions for our readers- Have you allowed others to throw you in a mud puddle and then made the choice to stay sitting in the puddle of unforgiveness, bitterness, feelings of rejection and a deep root of pain? If so, ask the Lord to help you to toss these feelings aside. You may be surprised to find that he may even send friends your way who will help hold you up in the process.

Scripture for further study- Hebrews 10:35-39, James 4:7-10.
