Wanted- Energy and Strength
Date Posted: March 14, 2010

Have you ever worked on a project with a fast approaching due date and felt exhausted as the date approached. Due to circumstances of life it was impossible to take a break until the project was finished. You needed strength and renewed energy to continue on and the work completed by the required date. As Christians we serve a God that can give us, what I call a second wind. Many times we are in need of a second wind of energy that we know we cannot conjure up in our own power, or in our mind.

When I was taking classes at a University, again and again and again there were times that I needed supernatural energy that only the Holy Spirit could impart into my life. I recall one time in particular, when I was attending classes’ fulltime and working fulltime. It was late in the evening and I was working on a paper that was due the next morning. My employment also required paperwork and various due dates on projects. I was so tired all I could do was set my keyboard aside and place my head on my desk and cry. When my tears subsided, I began to relax and pray, asking God to give me the strength and the concentration I needed to finish my paper. I lifted my head, placed my keyboard back in place and went back to work. Before long my work was finished for school, along with my project for my work.

I look back at this time realizing that it was God that gave me the strength to continue on. In my analytical mind I do not understand the how, but the Holy Spirit revived me and gave me the energy and clarity to finish both projects. As Christians we serve a God that can give us, a second wind. Many times we are given a second breathe of energy that we know that we could not have conjured up in our will power, or in our mind. There are promises that God has given us in his word that remind us of this today and are for today.

He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who WAIT on the Lord will find NEW strength. They WILL fly high on wings like eagles. They WILL run and not grow weary. They WILL walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31New Living Translation)

For I can DO EVERYTHING with the help of Christ, who gives me the STRENGTH I need. (Philippians 4:13 New Living Translation)

A Reminder for those who are in Christ Jesus; There will be times in life that it will be necessary to; complete tasks, carry out a project, or serve in ministry that will require strength that we do not possess in ourselves. It is during these times that we must remind ourselves that God sees and hears, and he will give us what we need when we are in need of it. We serve a just in time God! “I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. (Philippians 3:14 New Living Translation)

May we continue forward and cry out to God when we are in need of an extra measure of strength. The God we serve is always faithful and will provide, when we yield to him.

As Always, Serving with you,

Nancy J.
