Whom Shall I Send?
Date Posted: September 18, 2011

Two years ago, I returned from a trip to Africa. I realized as I boarded my first flight, that when I returned to my city, life would never be the same. As I sat and wrote this, I can say, that yes, life was not the same as it was prior to my trip to Africa. It is in a land like Africa, that we see who we are as christians. I spent my time with a group of people who had a commonality and focus of keeping the building of the kingdom of God in the forefront of their lives. Yes, they desired some of the comforts that we have in my country, but their first desire was for many to receive Christ. I felt an urgency in the message. The bible came alive in an active way, as I traveled with my new friends throughout the country.

For days when I returned I felt a restlessness to return once again to this far away land. The urgency I felt was to continue to share the message of freedom. The message being, the message of eternal life, and to disciple others to learn to live a life of a disciple, where ever God places them. It was a desire to be part of building the kingdom of God, on earth, specifically in a far away land. This desire continues on today. Just as Abraham before us and many others that we read about in the Old and New Testament there are those that God calls today, to leave their lives of comfort and step forward into unfamiliar territory.

Words from Isaiah as God Called him to serve him, " Then I said, "My destruction is sealed, for I am a sinful man and a member of a sinful race. Yet, I have seen the King, the Lord almighty!" Then one of the seraphim flew over to the altar, and he picked up a burning coal with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, "See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.

" Then I heard the Lord asking, "Whom should I send as a messenger to my people? Who will go for us?" And I said, "Lord, I'll go! Send me."

Thought for the week- Is God calling your name to serve him in a place that is different than your home? If so, begin to pray and ask the Lord, through his Holy Spirit to give you the direction. We can not go wrong when we follow the direction of the Lord. May he bless you as you place your feet on the path that God has chosen specifically for you.
