So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners (Proverbs 1:19).
Is money something you think of and worry about regularly?
Your journal is a great place to interract with the truth found in Proverbs 1:19.
Use your journal to explore the following:
- Write about your relationship with money. Does your money control you, or do you control your money?
- Do you think that more money will make you happy?
- How do you feel about giving? Are you committed to it, or do you do it only on occasion?
- How do you reconcile the wisdom of saving for the future with the need to trust in God’s provision? (Both are biblical!)
- Have you ever fallen for any get-rich-quick schemes? If so, what was the outcome?
- Do you dream of winning the lottery? If so, how do you imagine spending the money? Do your fantasies reveal attitudes that are godly or ungodly?
- How can being greedy for gain take away someone’s life?
- Are there any attitudes or actions regarding money that you need to bring before the Lord? Use your journal to write your prayers to the Lord about this.
