Thomas doubted.

So the other disciples were saying to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
John 20:25 NASB

Judas betrayed.

Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?" And they weighed out thirty pieces of silver to him. From then on he began looking for a good opportunity to betray Jesus.
Matthew 26:14-16 NASB

The soldiers mocked.

They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head. After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.
Matthew 27:28-31 NASB

Peter, James and John disappointed.

And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
Matthew 26:40 NASB

A father struggled to believe.

And Jesus said to him, " 'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief."
Mark 9:23-24 NASB

Peter doubted, denied and disowned.

But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Matthew 14:30 NASB

But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about." When he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth." And again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man."
Matthew 26:70-72 NASB

I have doubted, betrayed, mocked, disappointed, struggled to believe, denied and disowned.

I am all of these.

He knew me from the beginning. He knew I would do these things… and still He loves me.

I am all of these.

He saw it all. Past, present and future. He is the Alpha and Omega – the beginning and the end. He is the creator of the universe.

Thomas, Judas, the soldiers, Peter, James, John, a father… He loved each of them. They each played an important part in His story.

Me and you…. He loves us too. We are playing a part in His story right now.

We are all of these… and still He loves us. Even if you were the only person on the planet, guess what? He would still love you – no matter what you've done or will do in the future – and He still would have died in order to save you. He loves you that much.

How much do you love him?
