Changing People Through Prayer
Date Posted: April 14, 2004

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven't stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing [to Him], bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints inheritance in the light.
Colossians 1:9-12 HCSB

Here are several requests in Paul's prayer for the Colossians that I can assure you will change your life if you pray for these things:
May we be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. We can ask God to lead us to make the exact decisions He wants us to make.
May we walk in a manner worthy of Jesus. Upon examination, do we live our lives in light of eternity or of the world?
May we please God in all respects. We should always desire to obey God. There is nothing God will require of you where He has not fully equipped and strengthened you to accomplish.
May we bear fruit in every good work. We must actively serve the Lord and make a difference in the lives of those around us. We should let our lights shine.
May we grow in the knowledge of the Lord. We should never be satisfied that we know enough about Him. We should continually seek to learn more about Him and His truths.
May we be strengthened with all power according to His glorious might. Experiencing God's strength is a matter of knowing it is there and believing it is available. We can endure any trial and heartache because of who lives within us.
May our lives be expressions of joyous thanks to our Father for His grace to us. We should always be mindful and thankful for the inheritance He has given us with the saints in the light.
I hope you will consider praying and meditating on these truths. I've found that whenever I claim scripture as my own, it takes root and it doesn't depart from me. I can treasure it in my heart and it gives me courage and strength when I'm faced with challenges and discouragement. It changes me from the inside out and in my opinion, that's the best kind of change ever.
