I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 34:4 NIV
What are you most afraid of?
Are you afraid of being alone? Of dying? Of losing someone close to you? Of getting fired? Of being told you have cancer?
What's your worst nightmare? What are you most afraid of?
Imagine it.
Then imagine God delivering you from it.
I'm not necessarily saying that God will keep you from it.
I believe what the Psalmist is suggesting is that even if the worst thing you can imagine happens to you, that in seeking God - in putting Him first, He will see you through it.
You don't have to imagine that
You can believe it!
If you will put your trust in God - you will never have to fear.
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Hebrews 13:5b-6 NIV
I used to be afraid of so many things - afraid of dying, afraid of being alone, afraid of speaking up, afraid of marriage - just afraid.
But the day I made a decision for Christ, I stopped being afraid.
Immediately there was peace.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalm 46:1-3 NIV
There is nothing in the world that compares with having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Though the mountain fall into the sea - I'm not afraid... God is my refuge. He is my strength. There is nothing that can happen to me in this world that can ever take that away from me.
I can rest in the knowledge that Jesus is with me - no matter what.
I desire that for each and every one of you. If you don't know Jesus - then I implore you - don't wait another day. Tomorrow is not a promise.
There's no magic formula to inviting Jesus into your life. It's simply a matter of talking to Him like a close friend who's sitting across from you over a cup of coffee. Just talk to Him. He's listening. He doesn't want you to be afraid anymore. He wants to offer you peace - peace that transcends understanding.
