His Glorious Creation
Date Posted: March 1, 2006
His Glorious Creation In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV This time of the year is my favorite. I love seeing the signs of spring – from the robins I hear chirping in the morning as I walk my dog to the beautiful sunsets I get to enjoy on my drive home. Every day I am reminded of this marvelous creation God made. He started with nothing and made something. He made everything. Take a look around you… He created light, the ocean, the sky, the stars, the moon, everything we see, including each of us. He set them all in place. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, Psalm 8:3:6 NKJV And not only did He set them in place, but He thought so much of us… of mankind, that He crowned us with glory and honor and gave us dominion over all these things. I am truly humbled by His creation. I wonder - how can anyone doubt the existence of God? I can think of no other explanation than an omnipotent, all-powerful God - a God who could make something out of nothing. Think about it for a minute… look at the watch you’re wearing. Where did it come from? Did it just magically come together and start telling time on its own? Or did someone throw a bunch of parts up in the air and these parts miraculously found their way together and ended up forming a watch that could keep time? Or was there a “creator” who knew his creation intimately – who knew what parts were required and could put them in some order that would allow it to tell time? I believe the only logical explanation is that a watch has to have a watchmaker – a creator. Aren’t we more complex than a watch? Isn’t the world around us way more complicated than a watch? I believe God gave us these marvelous creations in order to point us back to Him. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, Romans 1:20 NKJV Even if you’ve never heard the name of God – wouldn’t you have to wonder where did you come from? Where did ALL of this come from? Someone had to create it, right? Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, And you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created. Psalm 148:1-5 NKJV God knew exactly what He was doing when He made us. He knew you from the very beginning of time – your name, the number of hairs on your head, what you would look like, where you would live, what you would do… He knows everything about you and He loves you. You are His masterpiece and you are good. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:4-5 NKJV When you wake up tomorrow morning, take a good look at yourself in the mirror, take a good look around you as you walk out the door, enjoy His glorious creation and don’t forget to say thank you… He made this for you!
