Peace With God
Date Posted: March 16, 2005

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 5:1 NIV

Did you know that God loves you and wants you to experience abundant peace and eternal life?

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
John 10:10 NASB

I wonder why is it that most of us don't have this peace Paul describes in Romans or experience the abundant life John writes about?

God created us in His own image. He did not make us into robots that would automatically love Him and obey Him. God gave us free will – that is the freedom to choose. We disobey God when we choose to go our own way. The end result of this choice is separation from God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23 NKJV

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 NIV

Most people have tried and tried to bridge this gap that separates them from God. I have heard so many people tell me, "I'm a good person. I know I'm not perfect, but I serve, help people, give money away, etc." Unfortunately, the gift of eternal life isn't something to be earned. It doesn't matter how good you are. It doesn't matter how many good deeds you do. It doesn't matter how much you give away. Eternal life isn't for sale. You can't earn it or buy it.

There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs 14:12 HCSB

Your sins are the roadblock between you and your God.
That's why he doesn't answer your prayers or let you see his face.
Isaiah 59:2 CEV

God's word makes it very clear – there are no bridges to God… except one…

Jesus Christ… the one who died on the Cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for your sin and my sin – past, present and future. He is the only one who can bridge the gap between you and God.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 NKJV

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
1 Peter 3:18 NIV

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
1 Timothy 2:5 NASB

God has provided one way and one way only. Each person must make a choice. The choice is yours and yours alone to make. Your parents can't make it for you. Your spouse can't make it for you. Your best friend can't make it for you. The choice is yours.

It's an awesome choice to make... the choice between eternal life with God or eternal separation from God condemned to a life in hell.

I know many who doubt God's personal and individual love for them…. Believing that God didn't do this for any one person. I'm here to tell you… you are wrong. Christ died for you and He died for me – personally. Even if you were the only person alive on the planet… Christ still would have died for you. Do you realize how incredible that is? How amazing? Just to know that Christ, this man who lived over 2000 years ago… loves you so much – then, today and through eternity… that He came to earth, lived a sinless life, was tortured, beaten, and suffered an excruciating death on the cross… just because He has so much love for you and me and He wanted us to be able to have a relationship with His Father – Abba – God!

It is so humbling when I think of it… the unconditional, undeserving, unmerited love, mercy and grace I've been given.

You've been offered this gift as well.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 NIV

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that
God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 NKJV

Each of us must trust Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

Where are you?

Have you received Jesus Christ?

If not, will you receive Him now?

Here's how you can receive Christ:
Admit your need as a sinner for Christ.
Be willing to turn away from your sins.
Believe Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your heart and control your life through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Receive Jesus and your Lord and Savior.

If you've just done this… know that you have been saved.

For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
Romans 10:13 NKJV

This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen that relationship you should start reading your Bible, talk to God in prayer every day, tell others about Christ, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached, and demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.

If you are already a believer in Christ who has taken a step backwards, do not fear, Christ has never left you… just recommit your life to Him, truly turn away from your sins, and you will be well on your way to experience the abundant peace and eternal life you have been promised.

I will be praying for you!
