Caution: Slippery Slope Ahead
Date Posted: April 20, 2007
My balance and dexterity isn’t what it use to be. Since I have always been physically (and mentally) active, I have worn my muscles down from improper use. For that reason, I am cautious doing things like walking down steps and escalators. I don’t avoid them, I just concentrate and steady myself when performing such activities. More strenuous things like ice skating, I don’t do anymore because I know I do not have the ability that I once did. Spiritual matters are like this. When we come to temptations and struggles that are areas of weakness, serious contemplation is needed. Focusing on the end point without looking to the side is crucial to avoid straying off the right path. When we do reach the end without straying, this will give us confidence and perseverance needed for the next trial. Some areas need to be avoided all together. Temptations that have led to repeated defeats are areas where we do not need to go.
