Thoughts in the Dust
So often, when we think of ourselves as being in a time of life that we perceive to be dry we tend to get discouraged and look at the dust flying about our feet.
It is at times exactly like this when Jesus speaks to our souls saying "Look up, this is your time, your day of redemption. Revival can begin in your heart right now if you would but look at Me. Turn your eyes from the vain things of life and let Me revive you in My ways." Psalm 119:37
It all comes down to our choices - do we allow the dust swirling about our feet to settle upon us or do we lift ourselves up to seek His face, do we speak out words of declared blessing into the atmosphere of our days? Have you done so and been able to mark the difference those declared blessings make?
The Psalmist asks the Lord to teach him His statutes so that he may live them out all the days of his life. Psalm 119:33
Do we have a mindset that is determined to desire to have the words of the Lord written on our hearts in order that, come what may, we will obey them?
As we walk in obedience, the greatest thrill is the joy that comes so that we find great delight in doing His will. Our life with God is not about cold, stark obedience but rather the experience of deep joy and heartfelt satisfaction when we can join hearts with the Psalmist when he says, "I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart." Psalm 40:8
Remember, it is the land that is dry that soaks up the rain, the heart that is hungry that is fed. So, never despair when you feel like it is a hard and dry place you are in. It is the perfect ground for the Lord to water and refresh and bring forth fruit.
