The Focus

All about you, Jesus!
Date Posted: February 4, 2004

I love worshipping on Sunday morning with my church family. Singing His praises, studying His Word, participating in His communion meal, sharing with Him in corporate prayer. I leave the church house on Sunday morning all pumped up and ready for a new week.

But then, I don't know about you...on my daily journey through the new week I tend to lose focus. As the week progresses I begin to shift my eyes off my Savior and begin to intently gaze upon MY agenda, MY concerns, MY schedule, MY issues, MY problems ...and I forget to look to Him and live for Him.

One of my favorite praise songs is a powerful reminder to me..."The Heart of Worship". One phrase in that song stands out..."It's all about You, all about You, Jesus." We would do well to make that our refrain - not just on Sunday morning during worship, but every day. In essence, for Believers, every day should be 'worship-full', for every moment is given to us by God's grace. And if every moment is considered as an opportunity to worship God, then every moment is all about Him.

What an effect it would have on our lives if we stopped and realized, "It's NOT about me." What peace we will gain when we understand that whatever happens in our lives is because 'It's not about me; it's about Him."

When things don't go the way we want, we understand that it's not about us - it's about God's bigger picture, God's glory.
When we face difficulty and suffering, we understand that it's not about us - it's about Him.

Whatever fills our days, whatever God calls us to do in any moment, we can remember that if we do that job, we are doing it for Him because it's all about Him.

That gives absolutely everything we do - even the mundane and ordinary - an eternal significance.

It's not about us; it's about HIM!

"When the music fades, and all is stripped away, and I simply come,
Longing just to bring something that's of worth that will bless Your heart.

I'll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself is not what You have required.
You search much deeper within through the way things appear; You're looking into my heart.

I'm coming back to the heart of worship,
And it's all about You, all about You, Jesus.
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it,
When it's all about You; it's all about You, Jesus."
